Since my early childhood, baseball has been part of my daily life. For a few years and to my greatest happiness, this sport has been booming in Shawi. The number of young people playing baseball has skyrocketed, and we’re lucky to have a champion team at the senior level: Les Cascades Go Sport de Shawinigan.

Although I’m not a great skier, I like to find myself at the bottom of the slopes of VDP and share this winter atmosphere with my family. We are really fortunate to have facilities like this close to home.

It’s mistakenly believed that Shawi is only a city of pizza. There’s nothing more false. To feel the vibe of the city, the legendary Trou du Diable Broue-Pub is a must for me. Bistronomy and Shawi beers: discoveries every time I visit. To chill at home and spoil myself, the Thai Dragon take-out formula is a must. Shawi has small treasures to discover for everyone and we must encourage them more than ever.

There are numerous places to recharge your batteries in Shawi. I love bringing my family to La Mauricie National Park during the summer. Beautiful spots to enjoy the water and nature of these Mauritian jewels. The Parc de l’Île Melville – Secteur des Chutes is also a favorite spot for hiking and cross-country skiing. The majestic colors of autumn make us appreciate our region.

For the past few years, La Série du Diable has been a motivation for me to get back in shape and share my enthusiasm for running. This bi-weekly gathering also allows many citizens of Shawi and elsewhere to be a part of a unpretentious sporting context, in good humor and it allows them to surpass themselves. $5 for a 5k and a good cold beer at the finish line is a GREAT deal!
