If I had to chose where to spend the night in Shawinigan, I would really love to try the floating studio. I would sit on the roof’s terrace at dusk to enjoy the view with a glass of wine.
A dinner out at the Radoteux in good company is always a win for me. I choose a glass of wine to pair with their General Thaï Chicken or the Poke Bowl. My husband loves the fish & chips, ribs or one of their burgers.
I love to walk on the riverside. One of my favorite routes starts from the Capitaine Veilleux Avenue in the Shawinigan-Sud area and finishes at the Saint-Maurice Park in the downtown area by crossing the two bridges (6km round trip, easy). It is a beautiful walk at any time of the day. I especially enjoy it at dawn or dusk. It is simply magical.
In the fall, I have we have a family tradition: hiking the mountain with my children and my grandchildren. The main motivation is a snack when we get to the top while enjoying the spectacular colors. Once at the top, we enjoy a good granola bar from Tous les jours Dimanche. It is yummy for the belly and beautiful for the eyes!
A moonlight hike in parc de l’Île-Melville. With reflective signage and my headlamp, I hike the yellow route (4 km, intermediate) starting from the first parking lot. Don’t worry, you can also enjoy it during daytime… It’s worth it too! The best part? It’s close to the restaurants and shops in downtown Shawinigan.
