Multimedia Show: Planet Energy Experience

  • This impressive 15-minute immersive multimedia show presents science and energy like you’ve never seen it before, with its rotating room and 360-degree screen!

  • Hang on to your seat… You’ll be treated to multi-sensory special effects (heat, wind, rain, etc.) and a bewitching soundtrack that will propel you into the heart of the primary source of Earth’s energy: THE SUN.

Planet Energy Exhibition

  • Thanks to its 20 interactive stations, this dynamic exhibition allows you to take a fresh look at actual energy and climate issues, but also at the future of our dear Planet Earth. Everything is presented in a way that is accessible to all age groups in an electrifying setting dotted with numerous touch screens.

The Prime Minister  Jean Chrétien Museum: Canada in the World

  • Commonly known as “The little guy from Shawinigan”, the Honorable Jean Chrétien was the 20th Prime Minister of Canada. At the lead of the country for 10 years, he received, during his years of service, more than 400 ceremonial gifts from heads of state and citizens from all over the world.

  • The exhibition allows you to admire all these gifts, from surprising works of art of great value to gifts with more a symbolic value than a monetary value. This large exhibition hall also has interactive terminals, video presentations and photos.

Shawinigan-2 Power House

  • This plant, built by Shawinigan Water and Power Company and put in service in 1911, is the oldest Hydro-Québec plant STILL in operation! At the time, Shawinigan-2 operated with the most extensive equipment on the continent, making it the MOST POWERFUL in North America. In the heart of the plant, you can feel the heat and humidity radiating from these gigantic machines in action! A jewel of Quebec’s hydroelectric heritage!

  • It should be noted that adults (18 years and over) must present a valid identity card with photo and that people with a pacemaker cannot enter the plant, so as not to disturb the proper functioning of their device.

(N.A.C.) Power Plant

  • Planned by the designers of the Niagara Falls power station, this former power station was the first to see the light of day and to produce electricity on the gigantic construction site of the former Shawinigan aluminum smelter. Go to the heart of this power station to discover a network of penstocks where the water flowed that fed the six turbines of the power station. Gloomy, dark and humid, these impressive tunnels literally give goosebumps!

  • A super interesting visit, dotted with interpretation panels ending with a demonstration of paper and aluminum manufacturing and a magnetic levitation experiment that demonstrates the effects of superconductivity.
